Who are HMRCollective

HMRCollective are three artists who work with text, collage, drawing and other potentially excessive processes. However, as they operate in a digitalised world they embrace the tension this creates and the impossibility of escape.

They have exhibited both collectively and individually, in the UK and internationally. They are members of Guerrilla Writing and are recent graduates of MA Fine Art, Sheffield Hallam University.

Systems of Labour. Artist residency, 2013-14, Bank Street Arts Sheffield.
HMRCollective questioned the relevance of the finished art work seeking to explore the expansion and contraction of generative processes. A series of pertinent texts formed the starting point for the work, as the artists followed the sometimes absurd lead set by the Oulipo, Kenneth Goldsmith et al. Daily tasks were recorded, logged and analysed as an inherent part of the system. HMRCollective are now working on a book of results

A roll of paper was pinned along the walls; pencils placed at intervals to encourage viewers to draw or write. The pencils were attached to the gallery walls by lengths of string so as to restrict the mark making.
